How to Participate
Background:
Digital health is an exciting space that is growing rapidly. We know that many students interested in digital health reach out to professionals for informational interviews to learn more about the space and build their network. We also know that the cold calling process is challenging – it can be difficult to know who to reach out to, what to ask, and difficult to make the connection.
healthtech hunches was developed to help MBA and MD students who are interested in digital health connect with experienced professionals for the purpose of career development and networking.
We are providing greater access to professionals in digital health through weekly fireside chats. The recordings from these events are posted on the healthtech hunches site within the video library and on each professional’s page.
How to engage:
Like with any community, healthtech hunches will flourish if members give at least as much as they receive.
- Participate:

- Attend the weekly fireside chats and ask questions
- View the videos on the side for advice on demand
- Reach out to speakers for 1:1 discussions. A speaker’s availability is noted on their bio page.

- Volunteer: We are seeking student ambassadors at all top MBA and MD programs to help us spread the word about the community. More information here. Reach out to healthtechhunches@gmail.com if you are interested.
- Financial support: we need help from the community to support ongoing operations for webinar series. We have set up a Ko-fi site – we hope that folks who have benefitted from the site will support us!
- Last and not least … feedback! Let us know what you like or don’t like – please email your feedback to healthtechhunches@gmail.com. It is your feedback that helps us shape a great experience.
Etiquette:
- The industry professionals volunteered their time to create the videos and participate in fireside chats. Some may be open to connecting directly as noted under “Connect”. Others may not. Please be respectful of this!
- For those that did include an outreach survey, which indicates willingness to connect 1:1:
- Be intentional and respectful of their time. Watch all of their video content prior to reaching out (do NOT ask the same questions that are posted on their page!)
- Use the survey to reach out and fill it out completely. Be specific about what you are seeking.
- Industry professionals’ bandwidth may be unpredictable. Please plan for some delay in response to meeting requests.
FAQs:
- Why is the site focused on MBA and MD students? Every program has to start somewhere – if you design a product for everyone, it’s good for no one :). The questions and interests of these groups are relatively consistent.
- If I am not an MBA or MD student, may I participate? Absolutely! We only ask that you contribute to a conversation that is relevant to the core audience so that the event remains interesting for the majority of the group.
- Why can’t we ask questions about the speaker’s company during the fireside chats? To speak on behalf of their companies, most speakers would need to clear the messaging with their employers, and some are not able to speak on behalf of their employers at all – we have prioritized providing access to a broad variety of speakers, on a weekly basis, in an informal environment!
